30 Seconds To Mars Break World Record

Rockers 30 Seconds To Mars are celebrating after setting a new world record for performing the most shows during a single album cycle.

The group, fronted by Jared Leto, have played 309 concerts in just over two years while promoting This Is War, which was first released in December, 2009.

The band performed its 300th show at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on December 7th, followed by a week of special gigs to celebrate the milestone - and Leto has thanked fans for their support during the mammoth trek.

In a post on his blog, he writes, "For over two years we have traveled (sic) this miraculous planet. Pushing relentlessly over mountains and seas, exploring this earth in the most unique of ways. All the while learning about this world, and ourselves, through all of you."

"Thank you for the dreams. Thank you for the memories. And thank you for sharing this unforgettable adventure with us. It was the journey of a lifetime and we are so grateful to you all for that."
30 Seconds to Mars

I'm a fan of this band and I knew that with its third album was going to break a world record, then I watched concert dates here in Mexico and I wasn't to one of its concerts in February, because my parents didn't give me permission, but in October I heard about the EXA concert and the main band would be 30 seconds to mars!

But tickets for this concert didn't went on sale and the only way to have them was winning different activities that the radio station prepared. I did everything to win tickets, and at the end I won four tickets to the concert. The concert was great and I jumped a railing to get to the stage.

I'm so glad that I went to one of the 30 seconds to mars' 309 concerts, which broke a world record.

Tell Apple, Amazon, Microsoft you want a cleaner cloud

Blogpost by Casey Harrell - April 17, 2012 at 16:00
Every day, our lives revolve more and more around the phenomenon that is “the cloud.” We check our e-mail, store our music, and share photos and status updates. It’s a key part of how we connect with our friends and family.

But have you ever stopped to wonder… where does the cloud actually exist?

It turns out the companies that give us the cloud keep all that data in huge warehouses called data centers, and those use lots of electricity, much of which comes from dirty, dangerous energy like coal and nuclear power. This problem is growing fast. We found that if the cloud were its own country, it would rank fifth in the world for how much electricity it uses, and that electricity demand will triple by 2020!

Thankfully, our growing cloud could actually be a really good thing for the planet. The cloud could be powered by clean energy, not coal. We’re already seeing companies like Google, Yahoo and Facebook lead the way by moving toward powering their clouds with clean energy, partly in thanks to you.
Well, I think Greenpeace is awesome because they have so many people worried about our planet and they work together around the world. Now, first, the cloud is a way to call about all services that internet gives us and we use them every day, but the cloud needs lots of energy and the problem is that companies like Apple, Amazon and Microsoft use coal and nuclear energy.

This energy is too dangerous, but thanks to the people who care about the future and are working so hard with Greenpeace, companies like Yahoo, Google and Facebook are powering their data centers with clean energy. Finally, I think that Greenpeace needs our help.

Real Words or Gibberish? Just Ask a Baboon
By SINDYA N. BHANOO Published: April 16, 2012
While baboons can’t read, they can tell the difference between real English words and nonsensical ones, a new study reports.
“They are using information about letters and the relation between letters to perform the task without any kind of linguistic training,” said Jonathan Grainger, a psychologist at the French Center for National Research and at Aix-Marseille University in France who was the study’s first author.
Dr. Grainger and his colleagues worked with six baboons that were given free access to touch-screen computers, which displayed four-letter sequences. If a baboon tapped the screen when the sequence was a real word, it received a treat.
“The animal realizes what to do in order to get a reward,” Dr. Grainger said. ”And they remember the words; they didn’t forget them.”
In one case, a baboon was able to learn more than 300 words. “We don’t know how many they could have learned if we kept going,” he said.
And the baboons are not simply memorizing the words as images, he added. After several thousand trials, the researchers presented the animals with new words. The baboons were often able to correctly identify real words “without ever having seen them before,” Dr. Grainger said.
It may be that baboons are processing letters, and specific combinations of letters, in the same way humans do in the first stage of the reading process.
“When children first learn to read, we encourage them to use the letter-level information, and to use that information to sound out the word,” Dr. Grainger said.
He and his colleagues hope to continue their study to explore the potential of reading in other primate species, and to better understand the semantics of human reading. The study appears in the current issue of the journal Science.

I think this article is very interesting because I didn't have idea that those animals are so smart. The experiment was good and I'm very surprised because the article says that baboons really identify the words and not just the images.

The idea of give a reward to baboons was great because they started to learn more words and the results are excellent, now we know that a baboon can learn more than 300 words.

Maybe a baboon can help me to learn how to write some words hahahahahaha.

A Dangerous Animal
The wild boar lives in groups containing around 20 animals. They eat almost anything they come across, including, nuts, berries, insects and small reptiles. They can weight around 150-200 kg.
If you surprised a boar, it will defend itself with intense vigor. The male lowers its head, charges and then slashes upward with his tusks. The female, whose tusks are not visible, charges with her head up, mouth wide, and bites. Such attacks are not often fatal to humans, but may result in dismemberment, or blood loss. boar3

Famous Fears and Phobias
Johnny Deep is afraid of clowns, he doesn't like the painted face and the fake smile.
Pamela Anderson has this phobia: she doesn't like mirrors and she can watch herself on TV.
Nicole Kidman is not afraid of snakes or spiders., but she doesn't like butterflies.
Justin Timberlake is afraid of sharks.
Tobey Maguire admitted that he could never really be like Spider-Man because this actor is afraid of heights.
Murphy's Law
If anything can go wrong, it will. If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong. If anything just cannot go wrong, it will anyway. Smile . . . tomorrow will be worse. Nothing is as easy as it looks. Everything takes longer than you think. Every solution breeds new problems. You will always find something in the last place you look. After you bought a replacement for something you've lost and searched for everywhere, you'll find the original. The other line always moves faster.
